You may choose to connect financial accounts to the Service through a secure financial data provider such as Plaid.
If you choose to connect accounts, usewell may receive limited financial data including:
- account balances
- transaction history
- account metadata such as institution name or account type
When connecting accounts:
- authentication occurs directly with your financial institution
- bank login credentials are handled by the financial data provider and are never stored by usewell

c) Automatically Collected Information
When you use the Service we may collect certain technical information automatically, including:

- device type and operating system

When you choose to connect a financial account through a secure provider such as Plaid, usewell may receive certain limited financial information in order to provide the Service.

usewell does not access or store:

Authentication occurs directly between you, the financial data provider (such as Plaid), and your financial institution.
Data Refresh
Connected financial data may be refreshed periodically to keep information up to date. Refresh frequency may depend on the capabilities of the connected financial institution and the financial data provider.
Users may disconnect financial accounts at any time, which stops further data updates.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- provide and personalize the Service
- generate stewardship insights and suggested next steps
- communicate with you about onboarding, updates, or educational content
- improve the design, functionality, and effectiveness of usewell
- maintain platform reliability and security
We process information based on user consent and because it is necessary to provide the Service.
We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties.
4. Use of AI and Data Processing
usewell uses artificial intelligence services powered by OpenAI to help analyze information you provide and generate insights.
These systems may analyze information related to:
- income
- savings
- debt
- giving
- investing
- spending behavior
Safeguards include:
- only relevant information is sent to generate insights
- personally identifiable information (such as your name or email) is not sent
- all communication occurs over encrypted connections
- OpenAI does not use this data to train its models

5. Safeguarding Spiritually Sensitive Financial Behavior
We recognize that your financial decisions may be closely tied to your faith.
Information related to generosity, stewardship, provision, and financial discernment may reflect deeply personal beliefs.
usewell treats spiritually sensitive financial information with respect and care. We will never exploit or misuse this information. Our role is to support your stewardship journey, not prescribe beliefs.
6. Security of Your Data
usewell uses industry-standard safeguards designed to protect user information.
Security measures include:
- encrypted connections using HTTPS / TLS
- secure storage practices
- restricted internal access controls
- email verification for account creation
- secure infrastructure providers
- multi-factor authentication for administrative systems and Plaid-backed financial-data access
Financial account connections use secure authentication flows provided by Plaid and participating financial institutions.
While no system can guarantee absolute security, we continuously work to maintain strong security practices.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
Your information is stored for as long as your account remains active.
You may delete your account and all associated data at any time by:
- using the Delete My Data option within the application
- contacting us directly
Once deleted:
- your data is removed from active systems
- it cannot be recovered
Encrypted backup copies may temporarily retain deleted data for system integrity but are automatically purged during normal backup cycles.
